Full-Time, Tenure-Track, Assistant Professor in Experimental Psychology with Expertise in Animal Learning
The Department of Psychology at Arcadia University invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level. The position will begin Fall, 2020. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in experimental psychology with expertise in animal learning. The teaching load will involve lab sections for two required courses in the major as well as courses in the candidate's area of specialization. Each fall, the position will involve supervising multiple sections of a rat conditioning laboratory serving over 100 students. The individual will oversee care of the animals, teach students proper handling techniques, teach students to write APA research reports, and set-up and maintain conditioning control equipment and software. Each spring, the lab instructor will oversee multiple lab sections in which students design and execute original, IRB/IACUC-approved rat and human studies. Lab instruction both semesters occurs in collaboration with the lecture course instructors. The successful candidate will also develop an active research program that involves undergraduate students, advise undergraduate psychology majors, supervise senior thesis research, and participate in departmental and University service. Full-time faculty members at Arcadia typically teach a 3-3 load; at present, lab sections constitute two-thirds of that load. However, the lab proportion may decline over time as we make changes to our major structure.
