The Research Neurophysiology Laboratory at Kennedy Krieger Institute, in collaboration with Johns Hopkins University, is seeking a full-time post-doctoral fellow to conduct innovative research examining the cognitive basis of impaired imitation in autism spectrum disorders (ASD). Fellows will participate in the conduct of the grant-funded research as well as developing/leading a related or parallel research focus. Candidates who link novel basic-science efforts with relevant questions in the developmental disabilities may be a particularly strong fit. Our research team uses psychophysical, neuropsychological and EEG-analysis methods to address cognitive function in children with neurodevelopmental disorders. The PI is Joshua Ewen, MD, and the multidisciplinary research/mentoring team includes Howard Egeth, PhD, Stewart Mostofsky, MD, and Brian Caffo, PhD. Candidates with PhDs in cognitive psychology, developmental/social psychology, social/cognitive (neuro)science, neuroscience and related fields are encouraged to apply, and particularly those with specific interests in motor control, perception-action coupling, executive function, skill learning and any aspect of the neural processing of biological or social stimuli. Some individuals with an engineering background and relevant neuroscience expertise may be strong candidates.   Qualifications: PhD in a relevant field (as above) A strong command of the literature in their field and the ability to apply it to the design and interpretation of experiments. Skills in psychophysical/motor experimental design, implementation and interpretation MATLAB proficiency Demonstrated analytical skills The ability to manage one’s own projects effectively, communicate effectively in a team environment and communicate professionally through publications and oral presentations Expertise in EEG-based experimental design and data analysis are a plus Neuropsychological testing skills are a plus   Candidates with up to two years relevant post-doctoral experience will be considered.
