Southwestern University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Developmental Psychology beginning in Fall 2019. Candidates with broad research and teaching interests that intersect with other areas of psychology (e.g., cognitive, neuroscience, learning and memory, sensation and perception, animal behavior) are strongly preferred. The ideal candidate will be able to teach several of the following courses: introductory psychology, research methods, developmental/lifespan psychology, depending on area of specialty. The teaching load is 3 undergraduate courses per semester, one of which is a small (5-6 student) advanced research seminar involving faculty-student collaborative research.
The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and mentoring, as well as be is expected to establish a productive research program that incorporates undergraduate students as collaborators and co-authors on conference poster presentations and journal publications. Other responsibilities include advising students, contributing to First Year Seminar and/or other interdisciplinary programs, and university service.
Required qualifications include a PhD in Developmental Psychology or related field and evidence of successful college teaching experience. Preferred qualifications include post-doctoral training in developmental psychology and evidence of successful supervision of undergraduate student research. Candidates who have a strong commitment to enhancing diversity in academia are preferred.
