Candidates with an interest in psychology and/or health behaviors are invited to apply for a 2-year postdoctoral fellowship position starting in Summer/Fall 2019 in the Center for Biobehavioral Health at Nationwide Children’s Hospital working with Dr. Jamie Jackson. The goal of the postdoctoral position is to train doctoral-level fellows in cardiac behavioral medicine with a focus on congenital heart disease (CHD). Fellows will have the opportunity to: Publish manuscripts from multiple pre-existing datasets Contribute to and ultimately publish from data collected for an NIH-funded study Receive mentorship on research methods, grant writing, and academic career development Attend fellowship didactic seminars on preparing for faculty positions Participate in advance statistical training seminars and lectures Have the option of participating in clinical services for adolescents and/or adults with CHD  Research Program: Dr. Jackson’s research interests include disease self-management, health behaviors, and health-related quality of life among adolescent and adult survivors of CHD. Currently, Dr. Jackson is conducting an NIH-funded pilot trial investigating the feasibility and preliminary efficacy of a physical activity lifestyle intervention among adolescents with CHD, which will be expanding to include young adults. Additional activities include a second follow-up study among adolescent and adult CHD survivors examining change in health-related quality of life, emotional wellbeing, and health behaviors over 6 years. Dr. Jackson also collaborates with a multi-disciplinary team on a natural history study characterizing the cardiovascular and emotional impact of caregiving stress among mothers of sons diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Environment: The Center for Biobehavioral Health has multidisciplinary faculty from psychology (clinical, neuro, and developmental), epidemiology, medicine, and biostatistics. Intramural funding opportunities are available to support fellow research projects. Nationwide Children’s Hospital, its Primary Care Network, and its specialty clinics provide the majority of pediatric care and training opportunities in Central Ohio.
