The Diversity Sciences Lab, directed by Dr. Adrienne R. Carter-Sowell in the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences at Texas A&M University, is inviting applications for a postdoctoral research associate. This position is a full-time, 12-month appointment with regular working hours, benefits, and much, much more, optimally beginning by September 2, 2019. The Diversity Sciences Lab collaborates with four campuses in the Texas A&M System Alliance to develop, implement and study a model for historically underrepresented minority STEM doctoral candidates completing degrees, transitioning into postdoctoral fellowships, and then successfully entering and progressing in faculty careers. The TxARM alliance was created in response to the National Science Foundation’s (NSF) Alliances for Graduate Education and the Professoriate (AGEP) program solicitation (NSF 16-552). The Diversity Sciences Lab is housed in the Social and Personality Psychology (SPP) program with additional resources provided by Interdisciplinary Critical Studies (ICS) and the NSF AGEP TxARM Collaborative Research Project. Competitive candidates will have experience generating novel experimental concepts, designing, and programming experiments, analyzing data, interpreting and presenting results. The successful postdoctoral research associate will have the opportunity to conduct and publish original research derived from the multi-year projects examining how individuals from underrepresented minority groups interact with others due to perceived experiences of marginalization and social exclusion.   Required Qualifications Ph.D. in psychology or a related discipline. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Demonstrated proficiency with quantitative data analysis and statistical packages (e.g. SPSS, SAS, R) Strong publication track record Evidence of effectively balancing multiple tasks and projects Successful completion of background checks, screenings, and searches   Desired Qualifications Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication (oral and written) skills Proficiency with Cyberball programming and social media management Competence with qualitative data analysis, NVIVO, and transcribing software Required language proficiency - English; Fluency - Excellent (Read, Write, Speak) Research interests in intergroup harmony, perceptions of exclusion, social pain, and      health disparities   Additional Information This appointment is for one year but is renewable for a second year based on progress/merit.
