Lincoln Land Community College (LLCC) in Springfield, Illinois was founded 50 years ago and continues to open doors to the future for many individuals.
LLCC serves approximately 15,000 students annually in credit and non-credit offerings at the main campus; Outreach Centers in Jacksonville, Beardstown, Litchfield and Taylorville; Capital City Training Center; Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport; HSHS St. John’s Hospital; as well as online. Students enroll for a variety of reasons including a great start toward a baccalaureate degree, occupational training, and creative and fun offerings. The results have a tremendous impact on the student, the local economy, and the community at large.
This college was built on a firm foundation. From its beginnings on a temporary campus to now over 650,000 square feet of occupied space, and more just added at the Springfield airport, LLCC has a strong presence. With the addition of an 80,000 square foot, state-of-the-art workforce building five years ago, the college has evolved even more as a comprehensive community college, providing a ready workforce for employers.
Today, LLCC offers 161 degree and certificate programs, 36 of those online. Whether the goal is to be a transfer student, a career workforce student, or to get a high school equivalency degree, from enrollment to completion, LLCC is there to assist all students in reaching their educational goals. The college offers service and leadership opportunities in approximately 45 student clubs and organizations.
Starting even earlier, LLCC has a gold level, certified childcare center taking care of around 70 children. Then, as they get a little older, more than 700 children enroll in College for Kids and other youth programming each year. High school students can get a kick-start on college as LLCC partners with 37 public unit and high school districts, and several private schools, to offer the opportunity to obtain college credit while in high school. LLCC also offers high school equivalency preparation and career pathway opportunities.
LLCC is now, more than ever, a prominent presence in our communities, an innovative collaborator with other colleges and universities, a respected partner of businesses and organizations, and a champion of the college’s mission, providing district residents with quality educational programs and services that are accessible, affordable and responsive to individual and community needs.
