The IMPACT child and adolescent psychiatry research program is based at Western Psychiatric Hospital (WPH) within the Department of Psychiatry and the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine—one of the most successful medical centers in the United States. WPH is considered a world leader in research and treatment of mental health disorders. Over $95 million in research and research training grants were awarded to the psychiatry department in FY2019, and it is ranked among the top recipients of NIMH awards. IMPACT is distinctive in providing research training that spans and integrates pathogenesis and clinical neuroscience; developmental longitudinal perspectives; and treatment evaluation and dissemination/implementation. Mentorship is provided by multidisciplinary faculty teams. Moreover, the program is part of a larger multidisciplinary network that constitutes CHIPS (Child Intervention Prevention & Services).
