The Florida State University Family Institute announces a Postdoctoral Scholar position to study the impact of spiritual activities on physical, as well as, relationship health. The research uses a variety of methods including physiological measures of cardiovascular functioning in the context of experimental and longitudinal research designs that examine romantic and marital relationships (under the direction of Professor Frank Fincham). The postdoctoral fellow is expected to play an important role in the design and conduct of studies, in data analysis, and in the preparation of manuscripts for publication.  Opportunities also exist for the fellow to conduct additional research in the fellow’s area of expertise. Requirements – Candidates should have a Ph.D. or be near completion of a Ph.D. in a relevant discipline. Good writing skills are essential for this position. Experience in using physiological measures (esp., those relating to the cardiovascular system and/or immune system) would be an advantage. Familiarity with observational coding, statistical methods used to study couples (e.g., multilevel modeling, APIM) and experiment generating software (e.g. Media Lab, ePrime) would also be advantageous. The appointment could begin immediately for a period of one year.
