Augustana University Psychology Department invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor with expertise in Developmental Psychology (or a closely related field) to help us grow our department in exciting new directions. The faculty appointment will begin fall 2022; doctoral degree required by August 2022.

Ideal applicants will demonstrate commitment to excellent undergraduate teaching. Teaching load is 3 classes in Fall, 3 in Spring and 1 in January term. The successful candidate can expect to teach Child Psychology, Lifespan Human Development, and other undergraduate courses related to their area(s) of expertise, in addition to one or more courses that broadly serve the psychology major (such as Introductory Psychology, Statistics, and/or Research Methods).

Our faculty work closely with our undergraduate students, serving as academic and career advisors and mentoring students in research. Augustana offers lab space and funding to support faculty research programs. The ideal candidate will be passionate about mentoring undergraduate students and will have an active research program that engages students.

  • a research statement that describes anticipated research activities for the next 3 years and addresses how you plan to involve undergraduate students in that research
