ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF CLINICAL/COUNSELING PSYCHOLOGY
The Department of Psychology at Cal Poly Pomona invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor, with particular expertise in Child, Family, or Couples Therapy, appointment effective Fall 2027. Duties and responsibilities include preparing and teaching undergraduate classes, student advisement, supervision of student research activities, establishing a line of research through publication and presentation of work, service at the department, college, and university levels, and teaching in our clinical MS program, which prepares students for licensure as Marriage and Family Therapists (MFTs).
Required Qualifications:
· PhD in Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, School Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy or a closely related field by time of appointment.
· CA licensed or license-eligible as a psychologist, MFT, or LPCC
· Graduate level coursework or research qualifying you to teach undergraduate courses related to clinical/counseling psychology (e.g., abnormal psychology, theories of counseling, basic counseling skills), graduate-level courses in treatment of children/families/couples, and courses on research methods in psychology.
· One class teaching as instructor of record at the undergraduate or graduate level OR as a teaching assistant with an instructional role.
· Program of research relevant to either clinical/counseling psychology or to pedagogy (the teaching of psychology) more broadly.
· English language proficiency.

Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, or Marriage and Family Therapy or a closely related field by the time of appointment; CA license eligible as MFT or psychologist; evidence of ability to be successful at university teaching; program of relevant research; demonstrated ability to contribute to university through teaching, research, service, and fostering an inclusive environment.
Preferred/Desired Qualifications: ability to teach psychology undergraduate research methods and/or statistics; minimum of 1-year university teaching experience; current CA license as an MFT or psychologist; ability to serve as an advisor and research mentor to a diverse undergraduate and graduate student body.
Date of Appointment: In the 2022-2023 academic year.
