Assistant Professor (tenure-track) in Clinical Psychology

The Department of Psychology at the University of British Columbia–Vancouver campus (psych.ubc.ca) encourages applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in clinical psychology, with anticipated position start date of July 1, 2027.

We are seeking applicants with strong research records appropriate to a research-oriented CPA-accredited doctoral program in clinical psychology. We are looking for an outstanding candidate in any area of clinical psychology, but would be especially excited to welcome a new colleague whose research addresses mental health in underserved or marginalized populations to complement ongoing work in our clinical program and department (https://psych.ubc.ca/people/). The successful candidate will join our team in the clinical program in producing scholarly research that leads to publication, conducting effective undergraduate and graduate teaching, providing clinical and research supervision, and contributing to departmental service.

Prior to the position start date, the successful applicant will have been awarded a PhD from an accredited clinical psychology program and will be ready to conduct a program of research within clinical psychology. The successful applicant will also be licensed or license-eligible in British Columbia.

• research statement (approx. 3 pages)
• a statement (approx. 1-2 pages) that details (a) how your personal experiences, perspectives, or skill-sets relate to equity, diversity, and inclusion, and/or Indigeneity (EDI.I), broadly understood; (b) how your present or past research, teaching, and/or service support the success and inclusion of students, research participants, and/or other stakeholders from diverse and/or historically underrepresented backgrounds; and (c) how you foresee contributing to our departmental commitment to EDI.I.

each statement should include all relevant information even if aspects are also discussed in other submitted materials

• evidence of teaching effectiveness (e.g., evaluations, sample syllabi)
• three publications

The deadline for applications is October 1, 2026. This position is subject to final budgetary approval. The expected pay range for this position is $10,000/month – $11,167/month. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
