Clinical Director, Mt. Hope Family Center

For over 45 years, the Mt. Hope Family Center has been a national leader in prevention, intervention, and mental health services for children and families impacted by adversity, trauma, and child maltreatment.  The birthplace of Developmental Psychopathology under the oversight of Dante Cicchetti, Mt. Hope Family Center is one of only three NIH-Funded National Centers of Excellence in child maltreatment research and training and is a long-standing member of the National Child Traumatic Stress Network (NCTSN).  As a member of the senior leadership team, the Clinical Director advances the integration of research, clinical practice, training, and community partnerships in support of the Center's mission.

The Clinical Director is a faculty member in the Department of Psychology within the School of Arts & Sciences at the University of Rochester and serves as a senior leader at the Mt. Hope Family Center. The Clinical Director provides leadership and oversight for the Center's prevention, intervention, and mental health services for children and families impacted by adversity, trauma, and child maltreatment. As a member of the senior leadership team, the Clinical Director advances the integration of research, clinical practice, training, and community partnerships in support of the Center's mission. The Clinical Director supervises clinical staff, promotes trauma-informed and evidence-based care, supports workforce development and training, collaborates on research and grant-funded initiatives, and helps ensure the long-term sustainability and impact of the Center's programs.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and operational leadership for Mt. Hope Family Center's clinical programs and services.
• Supervise and support clinical staff through reflective supervision, consultation, and professional development.
• Ensure delivery of high-quality, evidence-based, trauma-informed services for children and families.
• Conduct and collaborate with research faculty to integrate clinical services with research, evaluation, and implementation efforts.
• Support training and mentorship of students, interns, fellows, and community professionals.
• Foster partnerships with healthcare, child welfare, education, and community agencies.
• Spearhead and contribute to grant development, program evaluation, and dissemination of research findings.
• Participate in organizational leadership, strategic planning, and initiatives that enhance the Center's visibility, sustainability, and community impact.

Recommended Qualifications

• Doctoral degree (PhD, PsyD, DSW, MD, or equivalent) in psychology, social work, psychiatry, counseling, or a related field.
• Independent clinical licensure in New York State (or eligibility for licensure).
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience in behavioral health, child welfare, child maltreatment prevention, or family-focused services.
• Demonstrated expertise in trauma-informed, evidence-based interventions for children and families.
• Experience supervising multidisciplinary clinical teams and providing reflective supervision.
• Experience in an academic, research, or university-affiliated setting.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate across clinical, research, training, and community systems.
• Experience developing, implementing, and evaluating clinical programs.
• Experience with grant-funded programs, contracts, and program sustainability efforts.
• Demonstrated experience contributing to or leading grant proposal development, program narratives, budgets, and funding applications.
• Strong communication, relationship-building, and organizational leadership skills.
• Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive practice. 

 Preferred Qualifications 

• Experience working in child maltreatment prevention, early childhood, parent-child interventions, or trauma-focused services.
• Record of scholarly contributions, including publications, presentations, program evaluation, or participation in externally funded research.
• Experience training and mentoring graduate students, interns, postdoctoral fellows, or early-career professionals.
• Experience building partnerships with healthcare, child welfare, education, and community organizations.
• Eligibility for appointment as Research Assistant Professor, Research Associate Professor, or Research Professor at the University of Rochester.
• Demonstrated success in securing and managing external funding through grants and contracts, including the development of competitive proposals that advance clinical services, research, training, and community partnerships.
